Such familiar works as Beethoven's Sonatina in G and Clementi's Sonatina in C, Op. 36, No. 1 are balanced by the lesser-known sonatinas of Latour, Wanhal, Halsinger and Pleyel. Palmer's helpful edition includes a brief introduction to sonatina form and a short biography of each composer.
This collection contains six of Kuhlau's most popular
Sonatinas. Each is presented in a newly engraved edition, complete
with all movements. To assist students, ornaments have been written
out. Also included is a biographical sketch of Kuhlau. A great
value.
These energetic sonatinas, written expressly for the elementary student, are appropriately named Bronze Sonatina; Silver Sonatina and Gold Sonatina in the true Olympic tradition. Jane Bastien has combined the time-honored sonatina form with fresh rhythms and harmonies.

FJH MUSIC COMPANY INC.
The Developing Artist series includes a comprehensive set of literature books for the serious-minded student. The music offered is authentic keyboard repertoire. Piano Sonatinas, Book 1 is a carefully conceived collection offering an ideal introduction to the easiest keyboard sonatinas. Each sonatina in Book 1 is preceded by "warm-up" exercises which address certain technical challenges in the piece. The sonatinas in Book 2 offer a path for developing finger dexterity, balance between the hands, and elegant phrase shaping. Book 3 includes an ample collection of complete sonatinas and selected movements to give the teacher and student a wide range of choices. Book 4 includes the easier sonatas of Beethoven, Mozart and Haydn.
This edition of the Sonatinas, Op. 36 is based
on the first printing, published by Clementi himself. In addition to Clementi's
own articulations, fingerings and ornaments presented in dark print, additional
performance suggestions by Dr. Palmer appear in light gray print. These
guidelines were drawn from Clementi's companion work, Introduction to
the Art of Playing on the Pianoforte, first published in 1801.
